There are three parts to this archive in addition to this Read Me.
Requires ResEdit:
Resources that require that you use ResEdit to install the icon resources into your System file/suitcase and other files (always work on a copy of what you’re editing).
Ready Made Folders:
Additional “Silver Two-Tab 3D” folders for placement in various folders created either by your System Software or the System 7.5.x/Mac OS 7.6.x installer. Make sure to copy and paste these folders in place, rather than replacing your existing folders, to avoid the loss of the contents of your folders and to retain the correct folder names.
Folder Icon Maker w/Resources:
A resource file for use with Folder Icon Maker version 1.5 or later so you can create your own custom “Silver Two-Tab 3D” folders. Folder Icon Maker v1.5 itself is included in this archive by permission of the author, Gregory M. Robbins. This is in the form of an original StuffIt archive as downloaded from America Online.
• ResEdit instructions:
WARNING! ALWAYS WORK ON A COPY OF THE FILE YOU ARE EDITING!
To create copies without adding the word “copy” to the filename, hold down the “Option” key as you drag the file to be modified to another folder on your hard drive or on your desktop.
Once you have the ResEdit resource file you wish to use open, select all of the root level contents thusly;
and select “Copy” from the Edit menu (or press ‘Command-C’). Locate and open the COPY of the file you wish to modify. Make sure it is in the foreground thusly;
and select “Paste” from the Edit menu (or press ‘Command-V’). Answer “Yes” to the ensuing dialog.
Save your work.
Repeat the above steps for each file you wish to modify (Appearance Extension, AppleShare, Apple Menu Options, File Sharing, General Controls, Launcher, Web Sharing).
Exchange the modified files with those that are currently in use. WARNING: Do NOT simply replace the un-modified, original, files. You may want to move back to your original configuration. Move them into a folder other than the folder the modified files reside in. Restart for the changes to take effect.
For the Apple Menu Items folders to appear correctly, you will need to open the control panel, ‘un-check’ the “Remember recently used items” check box, close the control panel, open it again, and check the box to create the new folders.
To obtain the new Launcher Items folder icon, you will have to move your existing “Launcher Items” folder out of the System Folder. Then open and close the Launcher control panel. Then simply move the contents of your old Launcher Items folder into the newly created Launcher Items folder.
